A cool fall breeze, threatening skies and turtleneck temperatures did not stop host
Ben Mann'76 and a group of Northwood alumni and friends last weekend in their quest to master the Olympia Fields Gold Course, site of the 2003 United States Open and numerous other professional tournaments in years past.

Host Ben Mann '76 welcome Northwood legend Steve “Reno” Reed and Director of Advancement Perry Babcock, along with Joe Zona '94, John Guagliardo '86, Mark Switaj '77, and Chris Jensen '87. The Black Course, at Olympia Fields, where Jim Furyk won the 2003 United States Open and Vijay Singh shot a course record 63, often challenged the enthusiastic Northwood squad. But at the end of the day John Guagliardo '86 secured low net honors and host Ben Mann'76 took home the low gross. “Reno” was spotted on more than one occasion climbing out of the 8 foot deep bunkers that frequently surrounded the greens. There were a few pars and even a couple of birdies recorded--the boys were certainly able to brag after the round during a wonderful lunch provided by Ben Mann '76.
