Katie Van Voorhis Chismark '97 and Northwood School Director of Advancement, Perry Babcock, co-hosted a reception on April 5th at the West End Tavern in Boulder, Colorado. It was a perfect Colorado day (65 degrees and blue skies) for a gathering of alumni and friends. Joining Katie and her husband Evan were: Sue and Eric Erickson '81, Kristin and Eric Colon '85 and their two boys, Brian Owens '83, Pat Bowen '71 and his wife Pat, former faculty member Mike Payne and his fiancé' Brenna Margol and prospective parents Graham and Sue Fraser.
Half way through the event the young alumni contingent: Julie Saehrig ‘05, Peter Torrance ‘02, and Trevor Gilligan '03 showed up and everyone enjoyed the warm spring afternoon in Boulder.
The skiing was excellent throughout the weekend. Perry Babcock, Graham Fraser and his son joined host Win Lockwood '67 in Breckinridge for a day of skiing on Friday. The day before Janet Testwuide (mother of JP '03 and Mike Testwuide '05) joined Micky Kelly '85 and Win Lockwood '67 at Vail Mountain where again the weather was perfect and the snow conditions ideal. Jon Joy '65 and Will Griffis '74 and his wife were unable to make it to the Vail valley due to poor road conditions at Independence pass.
JP Testwuide and his hockey buddies from Denver University did arrive for the après ski gathering in Vail and hit the slopes the following day. JP is one of the captains of next year's DU Men's Ice Hockey team.
Colorado is home to nearly one hundred Northwood School alumni and friends. Many of those who called in to say they were unable to attend promised to mark their calendars for next year's event, wherever it may be!
