A Perfect Winter Day

Saturday December 22^nd was a perfect winter day in Lake Placid. The day started with a pre-race registration at the NYSEF building at Whiteface Mountain where skiers and guests were treated to coffee, hot chocolate and donuts courtesy of Northwood School. Coach Guy Middleton had the ski team video running and Director of Admissions Tim Weaver was on hand to answer questions about Northwood and hand out information to aspiring student/athletes. With enthusiastic support from Becky Grimmette and the NYSEF staff the Northwood sponsored race went off without a hitch.

After a successful race for the Northwood skiers on a spectacular day at Whiteface with blue skies and abundant snow, parents, alumni and friends of Northwood School gathered in the living room of the Allyn building at Northwood School in front of a roaring fire. Headmaster Ed Good congratulated coaches Guy Middleton and Marcy Fagan and the entire ski team on their efforts, not just for that particular day but during a busy month of December with races every weekend.

Noted alumni in attendance included: Steven Reynolds '95, Andrew Reynolds '86, Art Lussi '79, Cris Lussi '80, John Norton '98, Danielle'05 and Ashley LaCavalla '05, Eli Schwartzberg '99, Peter Benedetto ‘07, Brad Harden ‘07, Whit Bissell '04, Sage Bissell '98, Nina Gouwens '02, Emily McGuire '03, Chris Selkirk '99, Steven Brady ‘07, Diane Reynolds, Mr. and Mrs. Brady and NYSEF coaches Thomas Erhard, Jimbo Johnston, Greg Harden, and Scott Knowlton.

Northwood Board of Trustees members Bob Urfirer and Kay Bergamini joined Director of Admissions Tim Weaver and his wife Katie, Director of College Guidance Jeff Edwards, Director of Advancement Perry Babcock and Headmaster Ed Good in welcoming over 40 parents and friends to the reception. Skiers were busy tuning and reviewing the video from the day's race in the Rob Hanke '56 Ski Center and guests were welcome to tour the facility.
