Girls Hockey Coaching Staff
Coach Andrea Kilbourne-Hill ’98 is in her second season as Northwood School’s girls’ hockey coach. After graduating from Northwood, Andrea attended Princeton University where she captained the Tigers to their most victories in a single season. While at Princeton, Andrea was twice a finalist for the Patty Kazmaier Award which recognizes the most outstanding female college hockey player. Andrea has played on numerous junior and senior United States National teams. She was a member of the 2002 Olympic Team and won a silver medal in the 19th Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City. Andrea coached the Lake Placid High School girls’ hockey team for three years prior to coming to Northwood. In her final season, she was named Coach of the Year by the Upstate New York Girls Ice Hockey League. Andrea has earned a level four certificate in the USA Hockey coaching certification program, serves as a coordinator for New York Amateur Hockey Association and has evaluated at numerous USA Hockey district evaluations.
Coach Jim Dingle is in his third year teaching and coaching at Northwood School. Over the past two years, Jim served as Head Coach of the Boy’s High School Hockey Team, and this year he will be coaching the Northwood School’s girl’s hockey team. Coach Dingle most recently served as Head Midget Coach of Steamboat Springs, CO. Jim has coached hockey for over 35 years. In 1994, his High School hockey team at Kent Denver won the Colorado State Championship, and Jim was selected Colorado High School Coach of the year in 1992. Jim received his Bachelor’s degree from Hamline University and his Master’s degree in Curriculum Instruction from the University of Denver. His son Ryan played for the Denver Pioneers NCAA Div. I National Champions in 2004/05, and recently signed with the Philadelphia Flyers of the NHL.
Mark Gilligan comes to the Northwood Hockey Program from the public high school sector. Gilligan will serve as the goalie instructor for the program. Mark has over 50 years of hockey experience from playing, coaching, administration and most recently working for the NCAA. He is a graduate of St. Lawrence University with a B.S. in Education and a graduate of SUNY Plattsburgh with a Masters Degree in Counseling. Gilligan coached high school hockey at Saranac Lake High School for over 30 years and is a member of the New York State Hockey Coaches Hall of Fame. He was a co-director of the Can/Am Hockey School for 15 years in the Lake Placid location. He has served the ECAC Hockey conference as an official’s observer and recently represented the NCAA at the Division III Men’s Hockey Championship in Lake Placid. Gilligan also was a member of the 1980 Olympic Hockey Committee.
Andy Donatello, MS, ATC is in his thirteenth year as Northwood School’s Athletic Trainer and Strength and Conditioning coach. He is also in his 3rd year as the Assistant Athletic Director. Andy received a Bachelor’s of Science in Kinesiology/Athletic Training from the University of New Hampshire and a Master’s in Athletic Training from Indiana State University.
