Coach Jeff Matthews is in his fourth season as Head Coach of the Junior Boys’ Hockey Team. Prior to Northwood, coach Matthews served for two years as Assistant Men’s Coach at his alma mater, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York. Jeff played forward for the engineers and graduated from RPI in 1995 after appearing in two consecutive NCAA Tournaments and capturing the ECAC Championship his senior season. After playing professionally in Sweden for one year, he served as an assistant coach at American International College while earning his Master’s degree in Educational Psychology, and followed that with a three year stay at Northfield Mount Hermon School as Varsity Boys’ Head Coach.
| Assistant Coach Ryan Bailey enters his third year teaching and coaching at Northwood. Ryan played defense at Hamilton College where he served as a team captain in '03. Prior to Northwood, Ryan coached three seasons at the National Sports Academy. Ryan has also served as an evaluator at USA Hockey Select Camps.

| Athletic Director Josh LeRoy returns this year and takes over as Head Coach of the High School Hockey team. This year marks his fifth year teaching and coaching at Northwood School. After being the Assistant Coach on the Junior Boys Team for two years, including being a part of the first 40-win season in Northwood’s history, Coach LeRoy coached the Midget team the last two years with his former St. Lawrence teammate, Mike McCabe ‘96. Prior to his arrival at Northwood, Josh coached at New Hampton Prep and served as Head Coach at Cardigan Mountain School. Josh played defense at St. Lawrence University from ’96 -’01 where he helped lead the Saints to three consecutive NCAA appearances, the 2000 NCAA Frozen Four, and two consecutive ECAC Championships. Coach LeRoy holds a Master’s in Education from St. Lawrence University.
| Head Midget Coach Mike McCabe is in his sixth year coaching and teaching at Northwood School. Mike played hockey at St. Lawrence University and SUNY-Potsdam (’01) where he captained the winningest team in SUNY-Potsdam hockey history. Prior to Northwood, Mike was an assistant coach at the Winchendon School for two years. He has been an evaluator for the New York State District camps as well the Adirondack team participating in the Empire State Games. Mike is also a graduate of Northwood School (’96.)
| Trevor Gilligan an '03 graduate of Northwood School enters his 2nd season coaching at Northwood and will serve as an assistant to Mike McCabe with the Boys Midget Hockey team. Trevor will also serve as the strength and conditioning coach. Upon completion at Northwood Trevor attended Oswego State and played his college hockey under head coach Ed Gosek. In his senior season Oswego went on to defeat 3 time defending national champion Middlebury College to capture the school’s first National Championship. Trevor has coached at Can Am hockey school in Lake Placid and is the son of goalie coach Mark Gilligan.
| Mark Gilligan comes to the Northwood Hockey Program from the public high school sector. Gilligan will serve as the goalie instructor for the program. Mark has over 50 years of hockey experience from playing, coaching, administration and most recently working for the NCAA. He is a graduate of St. Lawrence University with a B.S. in Education and a graduate of SUNY Plattsburgh with a Masters Degree in Counseling. Gilligan coached high school hockey at Saranac Lake High School for over 30 years and is a member of the New York State Hockey Coaches Hall of Fame. He was a co-director of the Can/Am Hockey School for 15 years in the Lake Placid location. He has served the ECAC Hockey conference as an official’s observer and recently represented the NCAA at the Division III Men’s Hockey Championship in Lake Placid. Gilligan also was a member of the 1980 Olympic Hockey Committee.
| Andy Donatello, MS, ATC is in his thirteenth year as Northwood School’s Athletic Trainer and Strength and Conditioning coach. He is also in his 3rd year as the Assistant Athletic Director. Andy received a Bachelor’s of Science in Kinesiology/Athletic Training from the University of New Hampshire and a Master’s in Athletic Training from Indiana State University.
