Endowed Programs at Northwood School

All of the programs listed below have been established by alumni and friends of Northwood School. These programs help to insure financial stability for Northwood by enhancing the school’s endowment and providing annual budgetary relief. Creating Endowed programs at Northwood School is a priority. The Advancement office promotes a wide range of opportunities as part of the school’s Planned Giving program. The William G. Allyn Facility Enhancement Fundhas been established through the generosity of the Allyn family (Lew ’57, Tanya ’88 and Josh). This endowed program will insure the long term maintenance and upkeep of the William G. Allyn Building. With recent gifts totalling over $300,000.00, interest from this fund will help reduce the stress on the annual budget and release funds for other uses. Established in 2006.

The Bryan E. Taylor Scholarshipis an endowed program, the interest from which, may be used to fund a qualified student applying from amongst Fulton, Montgomery, Hamilton or Essex County, New York. This award is "need-based” and recipients must qualify for financial aid as any other applicant. Established in 2006.

The Henry Uihlein Foundation Scholarship Fund is an endowed fund with a balance of over $750,000 dollars. Monies are used to assist area students who wish to attend Northwood School. Last year five young people from Lake Placid received grants in aid.

The W. John Friedlander Fund was created to honor former Headmaster John Friedlander. This endowed fund supports faculty enrichment programs and student scholarship. The current balance is $65,000 dollars.

The Christl Holderied Barrett Memorial Charitable Foundationwas established in memory of Christl Holderied Barrett, class of 1976, by her husband Paul Barrett, class of 1974 and the Holderied Family. Support is given to a deserving student from the North Country who has a keen interest in figure skating. This endowed fund balance is $30,000 dollars.

The Empire Ski Scholarship: The goal of this endowed fund is to assist competitive skiers from New York State interested in attending Northwood School.
 
The Northwood School Second Century Society - Members of the Northwood community who elect to remember the school through a planned gift are automatically given membership in the Second Century Society.
