Jean-Pierre Daigneault will join the Northwood School faculty as Alpine Program Director this fall. Former Head Coach for British Columbia's Women's Alpine Team, J.P. brings over 12 years of professional coaching experience to his new position at Northwood. A graduate of Dartmouth College, he was captain of the Dartmouth Alpine Ski Team and is a four-time All-American, NCAA Division I skier. J.P. was previously Head Coach of the Québec Ski Team Men's Alpine Team and Alpine Coach for Green Mountain Valley School (GMVS) in Vermont. Northwood is thrilled to welcome him aboard!
J.P. says of his new position, "Northwood School's alpine skiing success in the years to come will be due in large part to the work of Guy Middleton who has been at the helm since 1993, all the while building a solid foundation for the future of the program. It is a privilege for me to come to Northwood and have the opportunity to add to the legacy of its storied skiing program."
"As an athlete, I've had great coaches and mentors at GMVS and Dartmouth. Later on, as a coach, I was lucky to work with some of the world's best coaches at GMVS, in Québec, and British Columbia. Most athletes who skied with us are now top NCAA skiers or national team members. I look forward to bringing this experience and intensity to Northwood and helping our racers reach the next level. Given the school's all-around commitment to excellence, world-class training facilities at Whiteface Mountain, and the high availability of USSA, FIS, and international racing opportunities in the East, the coming seasons at Northwood will no doubt be productive and exciting," J.P. added.
Alumna Katie Haggerty ’09, will be joining J.P. Daigneault on Northwood’s Alpine Program staff. Katie is a 2013 graduate of Plymouth State University, where she raced as a member of the school’s NCAA Division III ski team. Following graduation, she earned her Level 100 coaching certification and spent a year in Colorado as Assistant Youth Ski League Team Coach with Ski & Snowboard Club Vail. She can’t wait to get back to Northwood!
