Small in numbers . . . big on talent. The Northwood School Freestyle Team have quietly established themselves as an elite group of very successful winter athletes. Building on the past achievements of Mike Clarke, Justin Perry, Hannah Doan and others, returning senior Andrew Wilson will be leading the charge into the 2008/09 season. Jake Doan, Nick Edwards and K.C. Brousseau will be joining Andrew as they compete in freestyle events at Whiteface, their home mountain, through to the national level. Last season's highlights included a huge win for Andrew at Mount Snow's Anti-Gravity Grail, throwing a double back flip in the big air competition . . . Nick capturing four podium finishes . . . an "invitation only" appearance by Jake in "The Heat Harvest" film shoot . . . and Jake's sister Hannah taking first place in the halfpipe at the USSA Chevrolet Freestyle Junior Olympics and qualifying for the Sprint US Freestyle National Championships. It will be a tough season to live up to but we have no doubt they will rise to the challenge.
