| Since its founding in 1905, Northwood School has offered outstanding scholastic and athletic programs in a stimulating environment. The school's academic program emphasizes rigorous preparation for top colleges in a supportive, structured, small-class setting. All students benefit from the availability of an experienced and dynamic faculty, almost all of whom reside on campus. The standard curricular offerings are supplemented by Advanced Placement and honors courses and a solid set of electives such as Art Exploration, Jazz Band, Steel Drums, Great Women, and Irish and Adirondack history. Extracurricular offerings include drama, art, music, journalism, photography, and a wide variety of athletic programs. There are 25 full-time faculty members additional administrators who teach part-time, 19 of whom reside on campus.

| The Academic Director is Annie Edwards. She holds a bachelor's degree from St. Lawrence University and a master's degree from Middlebury College. She chairs the language department, teaches two sections of French and one psychology course. Annie has been at Northwood since 1983. Annie works with each student on course scheduling, study skills, and academic guidance.
